Let's start with the basics
BASH Festival is a free week-long coding festival for 13-17 year olds across the UK. Teams will spend the week building awesome projects together before travelling to Birmingham for our finale weekend, packed with talks, workshops, music, films and more. Projects will be focussed around any of our three themes - games, hardware and data.
This event is for young people who have learnt the basics of development or digital design. Supported by each other and adult mentors, they'll apply their skills and learn new ones. Each of our 15 hubs will have 15-20 young people for a total of 300 people!
During the week, young people will be in one of 15 regional hubs across the UK. At the weekend, they'll all travel to Birmingham for our finale weekend. Attendees are expected to cover the cost of travel to the finale.
There's lots of amazing programmes to teach young people how to code, but not much to support them once they've learnt the basics. We aim to foster regional and technical communities and give young technical people the community, space and support to further build on their skills.
Applications open in March and close in May. The week-long portion in regional hubs runs 10am-5pm on August 5th - 9th. The weekend portion is August 10th - 11th.
